Can a tattoo be removed in just one treatment?
Only very rarely – see below
How many treatments will be required to treat the average tattoo?
As a rough guide, very small tattoos may take up to half
a dozen or so sessions. Larger, more elaborate tattoos
are likely to require at least 9 sessions and often more.
It is, unfortunately, not possible to be more specific as
much depends on the precise nature of the tattoo and
your response to treatment. Although we do our best to
minimise the number of sessions (and hence cost) we
would never compromise on safety and comfort. We
will discuss this more fully with you during your initial
free, no obligation, consultation.
What are the costs likely to be?
This depends entirely on the number of sessions
required. Wherever possible we will endeavor to
provide you with a fixed cost for the anticipated
number of sessions required.
Do all tattoos respond to treatment?
Yes, but to varying degrees, dependent largely on the pigments that are present. Blacks and blues respond very well to treatment whereas reds, yellows and especially greens can require more work.
How will I know if there are any resistant colours present?
In most cases it will be apparent to our trained clinician whether there is likely to be a problem. Where there is any doubt, a test patch will be taken to determine the likelihood of successful treatment.
How long does each individual session take?
This depends on the size of the tattoo; a small tattoo might take 5 minutes, whereas a larger one, or multiple tattoos, could take an hour or more of treatment. Again, this will become clearer during your initial, free consultation.
Does it hurt?
This depends on the individual and their sensitivity to pain. The treatment would normally not be as painful or ‘uncomfortable’ as the initial tattoo! Clients' descriptions range from,’ an elastic band flicked against the skin’ to ‘splashes of chip fat’
